Scooter's Story

Watch videos of Scooter’s first wheelchair and Scooter’s first year with us!

We celebrated a very special birthday this summer! Scooter!!! Scooter joined us a year ago, on July 16, 2023 as a tiny baby. He was injured and left paralyzed at just a couple weeks old. When his family found him dragging his back legs and unable to walk they rushed him to us!

Scooter has been a joy to raise, even if he does have quite the naughty streak. His favorite thing to do is eat! And, of course, to find out what he likes and doesn’t like he must taste and chew up a little of everything. Scooter also had a knack for wearing out our DIY wheelchairs, we made EIGHT different designs the past year!
Scooter has such an amazing purpose here on the farm. He helps us teach field trip students how to ask curious, yet compassionate, questions to people facing physical differences. Scooter is an inspriation and he brings such joy to visitors and people we visit, especially those with similar differences!
Since Scooter arrived we have taken in multiple more farm animals with physical differences. Shuffles, a pig with deformed back legs joined us in October, Benny, a goat with three-legs joined us in January, two bunnies with limb deformities and a handful of poultry missing legs now call our farm home.
